With the present low state of the economy, everyone – from the biggest to the smallest sector of the industry – is affected. If you are a business owner who uses a business credit card, what can you do to keep your company strong despite recession?
Business Credit Cards, Recession and You
To survive recession, it is crucial for a business owner to keep spending in control. Before charging any purchase to your business credit card, everything must be carefully planned out. For instance, how do you intend to pay off those charges? How much can you afford to charge on your business credit card each month?
Just as it is important to plan your personal spending, an entrepreneur must also pay close attention to his/her business credit card use. This way, additional fees on your business credit card such as Interest Rate, over-the-limit fees and late penalty charges can be avoided.
Do you own multiple credit cards for Business?
If you own more than one credit card for business, staying out of debt will depend on how well you manage your accounts. For instance, even if one your cards have a very low interest rate, keep your credit usage minimal to avoid the risk of bad debt and to protect your credit history.
If you have outstanding balances of each of your business credit cards, check which one has the highest rate of interest. Pay off that balance in full and work on paying off your other balances as best as you can. Avoid incurring new balances while you still have unpaid charges on any one of your business credit cards. You can also transfer your balances from a high rate business credit card to a zero interest or low interest card to reduce your payments.
When trying to cut down your expenses, do not just closed out your old business credit card accounts as doing so mean erasing the oldest parts of your business credit history. You can still keep your old business credit card, using it only for the smallest purchases, and submitting full payments right away. Before signing up for a new business credit card with a lower APR, carefully review the Terms and Conditions and compare all your possible options.
