What is corporate credit? Obviously, as the term suggests, it pertains to credit or financial funds lend to a business, particularly a corporation. A corporate credit can be used in different areas of the business such as purchasing equipment and machinery, buying a real estate property or to support a company’s marketing campaigns. Without corporate credit, a company would have difficulty executing its business plans. How can get a corporate credit? Here are some factors to consider:

Business entity. Every business must register and declare what type of business he is running- whether it is a sole proprietorship, a partnership or a corporation. Being a corporation gives you an advantage as creditors often prefer to do business with this type of business.

Physical address. Every business must have a physical address or a physical mailing address. Aside from a physical location, a business telephone connection is also required. A physical business address proves that your business exists.

Business credit. When applying for a corporate credit card or a corporate credit card, the credit card issuer will require an excellent corporate credit standing in order to be approved. Corporate credit can be build by paying creditors on time and keeping within your credit terms.

Business credit score. Unlike your personal credit score, a business credit score only ranges from 0 to 100. 75 and above is the ideal business credit score while a lower score means your company will be considered as high-risk.

Personal credit history. To establish your corporate credit, your approval will often be based upon your personal credit history. Of course, an excellent personal credit status is preferred by creditors and this will often determine the approval of your business loans.

    The Corporate Credit Card

Another way of getting financial assistance for a corporation is by applying for a corporate credit card. A corporate credit card is a credit card that is especially designed to cater corporations. Smaller businesses and home based business can easily avail of a business credit card but those running corporation must go through a more complicated procedure to avail of a corporate credit card.

You may have noticed that there are no public or media advertisements for corporate credit cards. This is because not any business is eligible for a corporate credit card. This credit card is exclusive only for corporations. To be approved, a corporation must also be able to pass the requirements such as the ones we’ve discussed in the first part of this article.

Unlike with a business credit card, a corporation must first meet with the representatives from the credit card issuer or the bank to make to the necessary arrangements. A corporate credit card is customizable to match the specific needs of a corporation. Because of this, it does take a longer processing time when compared to applying for a business credit card. Nevertheless, qualifying for a corporate credit card does give a corporation the edge over its competitors not only with the financing aspect of the business but also in building up their reputation.
