  • How Can You Manage Business Credit Card Debt?

June 03, 2009 By: financegirls Category: Uncategorized

Many business owners use credit cards for business to sustain their financial needs. Yes, credit cards are convenient tools for payment but mismanagement or uncontrolled use of your business credit card may lead to bad credit.

How can you avoid credit card debt and how can you use your business credit card to your best advantage? In this article, let’s talk about wise strategies that you can apply to your own business particularly in using business credit card.

    Managing Business Credit Card Debt

Should you use your business credit card to pay for all your business spending? If you have low credit line, it may not possible for you to charge all your expenses to your card. However, for business credit card holders who enjoy a high credit limit, it could be tempting to use your card for all your spending. But there is a danger with this habit. Even if you don’t exceed your credit line, if you keep using your business credit card for all your expenses, it can put you at risk of bad credit.

How well do you keep up with your payments? Are you in the habit of submitting only the minimum payment? Do you pay off your balances in full or do you carry over your balances from month to month? Do you keep track of your account regularly?

As a business credit card holder, it is your duty to monitor your business account. See to it that there are no unnecessary charges especially if you distributed supplementary credit cards to your employees. Obtain a copy of your business credit report at least twice a year to ensure that you are maintaining a solid credit history.

But what if you have multiple business credit cards? How can you manage them effectively? It isn’t recommended to get too many business credit cards since managing multiple accounts can be confusing. One or two credit cards for business should be enough to meet your spending needs.

What can you do about unpaid credit card debt? If you have more than one credit card for business with existing balances on each, pay off your highest-rate debt first can help you get out of credit card debt. You may also apply for a balance transfer business credit card with a zero interest rate offer.

Do your best to pay off all the balances you’ve transferred over to your zero-interest credit card within the introductory period. As soon as you’re done paying off your credit card debt, consider closing some of your credit card accounts but keep the old ones. See to it that you’ll only use your card on important purchases and pay them off right away. Don’t wait until your due date to submit your payment. Pay off your balance in full to avoid credit card debt.
